New Mexico, a poor but fossil fuel-rich state, is aiming to make itself a national leader in the fight against climate change.
Lawmakers passed ambitious legislation this week that will reshape the state's energy sector by mandating that the state's publicly regulated utilities get all of their electricity from carbon-free sources like solar and wind by 2045.

We have a lot of sun and wind here. Just a little breeze yesterday 76mph top and 45mph steady all day. With oil being volitile in price the state is also looking for long term steady income in renewable energy. That oil won’t last forever an and wind is here to stay. Oil will remain a strong source but why not look at others instead of putting your head in the sand and your ass in the air whining about cow farts. Coals prevalence almost killed us like it is in country’s like China because the NEW EPA-says pollution is not bad for us, you can’t live forever and screw your children’s health attitude.
