When I debated health insurance as a college student in the early 60s, I admitted there were problems with the existing system and that the insurance industry had better fix them. Watch out, I warned, because if you don't, the government will step in and then you'll really have a mess. Looks like I was prescient for a 17 year old. (But not prescient enough to avoid marrying my first wife - the bride from hell - when I was 26)

The reality that many people fail to understand with the ACA is that it did not guarantee any health care to anyone, it only mandated health insurance. Adding to that, if you are too poor today to afford for profit insurance, you may very well become poorer paying the IRS for your inability to afford insurance. All the ACA did was make insurance companies richer while not actually providing any health care to anyone.
