Insurance company goes under after California's Camp Fire

Issues like these are almost trivial compared to the human cost of tragedies like this but it's still worth noting.

In this case one relatively small insurance company was unable to cope with the claims from the most recent wildfire, with claims just from the city of Paradise, CA coming in at double their assets.

For now the individual homeowners and other claimants are mostly protected, because a state association of insurance companies is stepping in to guarantee the claims (the entire purpose of this association) but it's still pretty sobering,
