Interesting article on the influence social media has on the current trends in terrorism. He also suggest an Information Operations/Warfare campaign as a counter to this trend. How do you think the world should respond to defeat this ideology?

Though a good read and an interesting article... do we really believe that by saying "don't do it" or "be nice" will really change anything? They say actions speak louder than words... We dumped billions into Iraq in the spirit of nation building a good will and where did that get us? Countless terrorist attachs, the spread of a radical Islamic nation, refugees, and the list goes on.

The problem is we are fighting an idea or ideology. The only way to defeat that is to replace that ideology with a more acceptable ideology.

LTC (Join to see) - Ok, in all reality just how many generations would it take? We are speaking about a 1500 year ideology, with little or no flexibility. Do you really think we could hold out long enough for our kindness and 1960's peace message to take root? We are losing as it is. People need to face it. Sometimes you just have face the bully and knock it out. Culturally they only understand strength. All this touchy feelly stuff is just seen as weakness. Now if we spoke those kind words while beating them with a big stick they might rethink their actions.
