I found it interesting that they said, "IRGC Rear Admiral Ali Fadavi had earlier said that the two U.S. Navy boats entered Iranian territorial waters due to a broken navigation system."

Capt Tom Brown - CPT (Join to see) TSgt Hunter Logan I think this whole situation is full of disinformation. Because if one boat was not working. Why was the other boat not towing it to safety?

Last night, I asked myself what I'd have done if in this situation, and the options were far too many to accept the story as published. Whatever the "malfunction" was...the skippers could've:
1. Radioed in for support/security and waited for the cavalry.
2. Attempted to tow the stricken craft into intl. waters.
3. Transferred crew to "up" craft and scuttled the "down" craft.
I'd like to think that considering the potential ramifications of becoming a prisoner of an Islamic Republic (even a Shia one)...that I'd have strongly considered informing the "powers that be" that I intended to respond with deadly force if any attempt to board was made-I imagine that would've got someone to grow a spine and send a DDG post-haste; despite the guaranteed court-martial and sentence in Leavenworth.
However, the realities are that the potential disasters accompanying any "international incident" means someone already thought this scenario out, and I'm sure these guys were briefed to act exactly as they did.

One "correction"...the option to "tow" may have been less feasible than it would at first appear; depending on the capabilities of these craft , currents, etc.
