It is amazing what happens when you start focusing on destroying an enemy completely vs allowing them to operate in time and space while dropping an occasional bomb on them. We heard a lot about their caliphate in Syria and Northern Iraq until Mattis showed up. They may be forced back into a more insurgent type posture because they lose their real estate but the pressure is destroying their ability to wage war, expand and wreak havoc in the area.

If it changes its stance - perhaps it changes its tactics as well.... as the conventional formations shift to insurgent and guerilla formations...
