I saw this this morning and was very excited by the news...great progress. The last time I was in Iraq I was in Mosul, on Marez and Diamondback, but spent a lot of time out and about so I am glad to see that the city will soon be back where it belongs, in the hands of the Iraqi people.

I was there during OIF1 so I too take a keener interest in that city than other parts of Iraq.

When I was there we used a small runway on Diamondback. We had a company repairing the airfield indicated. I know that the strategy to gain and maintain that area will involve both more troops involved in the fight and a successful transition in which Iraqi forces take ownership of the fight and the victory. For Trump to reveal his strategy would be foolish.
