While I can't argue with getting our troops out did the PM miss something on who defeated their country? Seems like we should be telling them we're getting out.

Come this August we will have been in Japan 75 years. I agree with getting out but think most Americans would have said the same as your last sentence about Japan back in 1945.

I think it is ridiculous we are still in Japan and Europe, defending rich high tech societies from peasant behemoths. They all need to grow up and take care of themselves. Exceptions: Korea and Israel, democracies of the front line with absolute tyrannies. I don't mind defending democracy, but pampering the European and Japanese for political clout should cease. (Steve solemnly steps down off the soapbox, picks it up, and stalks off.)

1SG Steven Imerman - I agree 100% and dont think we should be paying for anyone's defense but do think the cultural exchange in priceless. Before WWI there was question which side we would enter because of so many German Americans and I think today we have so many relations like that that will help keep the peace.
