The tangled web that is the Middle East. A Revolutionary Guard leader is killed by ISIS. Do I cheer, or not? I couldn't gather from the article whether he was retired or not. But even if he was, was he back by choice? We have guys who'd go back if they had a chance, I'm sure. I would definitely like to see it as a sign Iran was overstretched, but I rather doubt it.

He was retired - and brought back. The death reports have showed more and more of such - and how far spreadout Iran is when seeing these in Syria and Iraq. The Iranians do not have a huge IGRC... not on the special ops side - though it is big. But loses at senior level have been hammering it for 2 years now. You can not replace senior officers and NCOs special operators overnight - nor even in a couple years.. and time is not on their side.
