Where do these guys get the idea that an oath will prevent Veteran suicides? Veterans need mental health counseling not platitudes. The very idea that no one will commit suicide on Shulkin's watch is naive to say the least.

The same ones that said "If we throw money at it and analyze it for a few decades, it will stop and we can prove the analysis was good"? The VA talks of Analyzing but little of doing. Research and development at this stage is another slap in the face. As if this has NOT been happening since at least the Korean Conflict (I do NOT have the right to call it a was, only those that served during that time do. Especially NOT the Congress of the USA). It is NOT new. It is another way to get more $$$$ to the VA.

Thank You!!! I could not have said it any better!!! It's like most PhD's that I know, they have this sense of "Benign Intervention". If they leave it alone long enough, it will just go away.

What a joke! There needs to be a DOD/VA oath no servicemember is discharged without their VA paperwork being completed as part of their exit plan checklist. Those with known mental health issues should have a seamless transition from one health care system to another, no waiting for paperwork to be completed as an initial review would have already documented eligibility for health care. Rating and payments to catch up. Lets put an oath on the people who need to take one!
