I have been sober for 11 years my wife has been sober for 20. Some people can drink alcohol one or two beers a day and be fine but then you could have people like my 23 year old step daughter that drink it all the time and smoke pot and they haven't gone to school or been normal in the last 8 years. Some people can handle it better than others but if they feel depressed, they should seek professional help and a egg is one of those places where you can talk about your problems and you find out that some people have worse problems than you thank you have. But your weakness can be a strength when others have weaknesses as well and they learn from you and you learn from them. In summary, don't drink!
