It’s BS That Marijuana Users Don’t Have The Right To Bear Arms

Not sure how the use of a plant would extinguish the right to bear arms.. a pretty basic right. This is ridiculous. You can smoke cigarettes specifically designed to get humans addicted and are known definitely to cause cancer, you can drink alcohol to the point of coma, which ultimately will lead to liver damage and horrible decision making, but you are restricted from using a natural plant with a great potential for many medical benefits.. As we approach 2017, this is one law that boggles my mind. A person can marry an inanimate object, change their sex, influence the genetic traits of their unborn children, find nearly any answer instantly using google, and can be as promiscuous as they want, but if you are found with a tiny bit of plant, you can be locked up for life. On the flip side, there are pedophiles, rapists, and murderers who are serving far less time, I'm talking MONTHS.. and yet they walk free. Did you know drug related crimes bar you from many jobs and housing opportunities, yet pedophilia sex crimes do not? This world is stranger than fiction sometimes.

In my opinion this isn't that outrageous. You already by law can't discharge a weapon if you are under the influence of alcohol or drugs (at least in Mo.). So why could you if you were a regular user of marijuana.
A few years ago my farm came under fire from a group of disoriented drunks out shooting, they got confused and instead of shooting to the west into the ridge they were shooting north into my pasture and stables. Fortunately none of our animals or kids were hit but our shop and my neighbors garage were. These guys weren't being malicious, just drunk ,new to the area, and disoriented. However poor judgment and bullets don't mix well.
That incident has pretty much made me a believer in the sober use of weaponry.

I had a buddy who I hunted Deer with every year. The one time I didn't go, he was accidentally shot and killed by his son. My friend was handing a loaded rifle to his son, out of the truck, and it went off. My friend was found with drugs in his blood. He smoked Marijuana, and I never knew it. We never had loaded weapons in camp, but because of his mistake of having a loaded weapon, he was killed. I don't know if his son ever got over it. It was the first time he took his son hunting.

SGT (Join to see) - Sorry to hear about your friend. It only takes a second, or one time not keeping to the processes that work for things to head south. I can't imagine the effect that had on his son. Used to have a cat shit fit in Iraq when I'd see the guys hand weapons down to each other with mags still in them and the muzzle facing themselves. On Safe or not, I think that's about the most dangerous couple of seconds in weapons handling.
I worry about the young folks with so many states making marijuana legal and how it will effect them long term (like cigarette smoking) and their ability to find good jobs (mandatory drug testing). I understand the belief in it's benefits in use for folks with cancer and chronic pain, and I have always been a gun rites advocate but once the triggers pulled there's no recalling a bullet.

CSM Richard StCyr - Thank you. Our rule in camp, or walking back to camp, with no loaded weapons. His son was only 16. I'm really glad I wasn't there. I was taught by my dad the safe way to handle firearms. In my 60 years of hunting, I've never come close to having an accident with a weapon. I taught my boys the way I was taught. I'm still out on weapons and drugs. I don't care what others say, Marijuana is a drug or it would be legal to have and use, and drugs impair thinking.

I know nothing about this subject and I know someone else will provide details. My question is regarding holdover effects of MJ. Is a MJ user hampered when he is not actively using MJ (or immediately after)? My point is that if he is not, then how is this different from someone drinking alcohol and using a firearm when he is not drunk. We know both of these are not good for your health but does MJ impair you when you are not stoned?
Another thought, if it does impair you continuously, then should MJ users be allowed to drive when not stoned?
