When I went to A School in San Diego, we had NCO's who were not RDC's, but acted in a similar capacity. It was about reinforcing the transition from civilian life to military life. Not a bad idea.

Well I can only comment about Ft. Lee, I have not been in any other AIT training environments. But I found Ft. Lee to be as laid back and more college like than any post I had been on before they took Drill Sergeants out of AIT.
