CW5 Jack Cardwell, my father served in the Navy on USS LST-78 during WWII. While beached on Okinawa he actually found an abandoned M1 Carbine. He brought it home and I still have it to this day.
It’s been some time since I last fired it, but I have ammunition, keep it clean, and it still operates perfectly! It was one of the very early models with no bayonet lug, and the rear sight is like the one in the photo.

In the 70's I had two civilian carbines, I sold both because it was hard to get carbine ammo, today on Guam it's still hard to get the ammo, if you can find it for sale. My father had a Ruger revolver that shot carbine rounds, don't know where that revolver is today, his wife's family must have taken it.
My uncle had a M-2 in the 60's, he kept it and his 1911 after WWII, he was EOD in the Army when he came to Guam, and just stayed and married my father's sister.
