They want their cake and they want to eat it too. You can't have it both ways. If equality is what they are after, then it should be across the board... up to but not including latrines and showers.

I have two daughters and hate to think because of a few women that want to be in combat roles. And trust me I had another way of saying that but reframed would cause my daughters to have to register, BUT I have two sons that did and if women are now going to serve in front lines and get killed and hurt like men then ALL women should have to do the same as men. Some women disagree with me on here but trust me when they see 1000 dead moms and sisters returning in flag draped coffins, I'm afraid public opinion will shift away from women in the front lines. I say you cant have it both ways. How would women feel if it was no longer an option to be on the front line. IF it was the same for them as men. Your in, your on the front lines. No way to not go, just like the men?

Since service is a privilege, I don't see an issue with all citizens registering for Selective Service. It's our patriotic duty. We all love our country, right? Aside from that what would be wrong with voluntary Selective Service registration for women as an option? Women do voluntarily join the armed services now.

Cpl (Join to see) - The issue is that it is not voluntary for men and, therefore, it should not be voluntary (or prohibited) for women, if the ideal is total equality. Women should not be able to choose what they what to be "equal" in and what they don't. If they can choose not to do something men are required to do, they should then also be subject to being told they can't do some things they may want to do. Should not be able to have their cake and eat it too.

I tend to agree with you, COL Jean (John) F. B., but for the naysayers who don't think it should happen, at the very least, make it voluntary.
