Interesting perspective. I lived in CA in the mid to late 90's and I thoroughly enjoyed my time there. I've been back to visit but I certainly cannot see how people afford to live there any more.

CW3 Michael Bodnar A friend in California pays $2400 a month for a one bedroom apartment. Here you could rent or buy 4 beds 3 baths for that price.

I had some "Progressive" friends that were predicting that Obama wouldn't carry a County in Kentucky during the 2008 election, mainly because most Kentuckians were conservation, bible thumping racist. I responded that not only would he take the Urban counties of Louisville and Lexington, he would pull at least three counties in Appalachian Kentucky. They wanted to know why I predicted that, which is simple, there are people in Eastern Kentucky that would vote for Satan as long as he ran on the Democratic ticket. Obama actually took four of the Eastern Counties, but I dismiss one since it has one of the state universities. None of these counties have a substantial black population, I don't think Wolfe County has any, with a white population percentage at 96 percent or better.
When I moved here in 1988, you didn't get to vote in many of the state and the majority of the local elections if you weren't a registered Democrat since so many of the races were decided in the Democratic Primaries. That's no longer true, but there are a lot of Blue Dog Democrats still active in the local political seen.
Even my Grandfather has voted Democratic in every election since he died :^).
The Republicans have sweep the National Elections here because my progressive friends were partially right, Kentuckians are conservative bible thumpers. Being a Democratic candidate that is forced to take funding from the DNC, Soro and Bloomberg backed group and having to pander to progressive influences outside of the state makes them easy targets.
I forgot to add Flag Waving, Conservative Bible Thumpers.

CPT Lawrence Cable - There have been some die-hard democrats that are changing their views which is surprising, since their families have voted democrat for generations, but still some just vote democrat because it is democrat, instead of choosing the most logical candidate based on their record or abilities.
I did get a kick out of this. LOL

SSgt Terry P. - That's even funnier if you know that my Grandfather was a die hard and life long Republican in an time when Kentucky was dominated by the Democratic Party. That was the era of vote buying, ballot box stuffing, or just stealing the ballot boxes and then stuffing them. I heard many a tale of adventures in voting.
One of my college professors was involve in the late 1960's get out the vote movement, the area he was canvassing was one of the more remote counties in East Kentucky at the time. He stopped at a house, started to explain that he wanted to insure that he got out to vote. The old man asked who he wanted him to vote for in the election. After explaining that he should vote for whomever he thought was the best candidate, the old man ask him what he was going to give him to cast his vote. He then went into great detail to what each of the country and state officials give them if he showed up and voted for them, shoes for the kids, a dress for his wife, groceries, etc.
The older I get, I'm not sure that old man didn't have a much more practical view of politics than we do today.

CPT Lawrence Cable - A very practical view,CPT. Similar perspective here. I have seen votes "bought" by local politicians for a bottle of liquor or a promise of repairing a driveway, getting a relative out of some illegal offense.
Kind of like National politics ,if you look closely at it. LOL
