As you pointed out, Captain, the more "gun-rich" areas of the country, with the least "gun control" are the safest from "gun violence". That, combined with the perversity of the "gun free zones" that attract homicidal maniacs by assuring them they will have the only gun in the area, is enough to demonstrate how wrong-headed "gun control" is as a solution to "gun violence".

CW3 Harvey K. Last I checked, the states with the highest rate of gun violence were also the states with the lowest gun-control and the most guns. Alaska, Arizona and Arkansas are pretty high on the list for gun violence rates (1,2,3) and all are pretty free with their guns. They rank 15, 10, and 8 for guns per capita. They should be well in the upper ranking for safety - but they aren't. How do these stats jive with your statement?

MAJ Bryan Zeski -
“There are lies, damned lies, and statistics.”

First – you would be well advised to learn how your unnamed source defines “gun violence”. Does it include suicides by gun? There are many such sources that include the ~ 60% of “gun deaths” that are suicides in the total.
Second – as Captain Durish pointed out, and you have ignored, “If you remove America’s urban areas from the statistical equation, America would rank among the safest nations in the world, that is safe from gun violence.” How safe would Louisiana be without the urban violence of New Orleans?

You stated that “Alaska, Arizona and Arkansas are “pretty high on the list for gun violence rates” (1,2,3) … They rank 15, 10, and 8 for guns per capita.”

The “stats” you quoted --- without benefit of source cited, raise immediate questions.

1. Alaska, (you state), has the highest “gun violence” rate (1), followed by Arizona (2), and Arkansas (3).
2. Alaska, (you report), is 15th in “guns per capita”, while Arizona is 10th, and Arkansas 8th

So the highest “gun violence” rate is found in Alaska, the state that is 15th in “gun ownership per capita”? Shouldn't it be closer to 1st in “gun ownership”, if you think there is some causal relation between “gun ownership rate” and “gun violence rate”?
The same holds true for Arizona (2)/10th. Arkansas (3)/8th gets closer to supporting your presumption, looked at individually.

But look at your “stats” as a whole – the states you claim have the highest rates of “gun violence” have the reverse sequence of “gun ownership rates”. That contradicts, rather than supports the notion that “More guns equals more gun crime/violence/deaths”.
Things just don't jibe in your post.

The highest rate of “gun violence” in the USA, with a “murder rate” of 24.2/100,000 and “gun murders” at 18.0/100,00 is that bastion of “gun control”, Washington D.C., with a “gun ownership rate" of 25.9%.
Alaska, a “Constitutional carry” state (second in the country to Vermont), contrary to your “stats”, has a murder rate of 7.7/100,000 and a gun murder rate of 5.3/100,000 with gun ownership at 61.7 %.

See for yourself.

I can save way more than that if we outlaw alcohol or cigarettes. I don't want to, but the numbers don't come close.
