Wish the author added his own insights and ideas on how this sad state came to pass in this country. What specifically started to drive such a fierce wedge between ideologies that there is absolutely no compromise made and no quarter given. Ideologues either rule or have undue influence over both Senate & House. I would be curious to know where and how it all started as a way of figuring out how to undo it.

Capt Tom Brown You are so correct! Double points scored. There is a judging that should be left to a court of law or God that ends potential friendships before they begin. The aisle has become a canyon. I think James Rosen made his statement as a reporter in what he chose to say. Speculation as to why lies with us to think about. Why do we judge, opine, and build these walls around us? Because we have some that spout this hate and bigotry. Because we have instant access to role models that erupt with hate, because we have lost our manners and rules of etiquette and because everyone has a voice but no regulator. I noticed that we once used to socialize as part of our work, neighborhoods and we were close to those in church. Those activities stopped when we became a globalized society. We worked more and stopped the social loafing. I'm just thinking about the changes I have experienced.

Col Rebecca Lorraine - That is some quality input which makes RP a good place to visit. Thanks for sharing those perceptive insights. It is a grim situation you describe which reflects reality. I can tell it bothers you to see what's going on.
