Did Joe Biden completely botch the Pledge of Allegiance?
It sounded to me like he botched it, but Facebook Fact Checkers were kind enough to disabuse me of that notion. They sided with his campaign who spun the narrative saying that he really wasn't attempting to recite that Pledge. Well, at this point, what does it really matter? (Sorry, I just love using Hillary's infamous response to the massacre at Benghazi). I'd rather focus on another question: Why do we pledge allegiance to the flag?
It seems to me that the flag is just an emblem. It isn't America. Neither are the land, the people, or the government. The United States of America is (or, at least, is supposed to be) the embodiment of its Constitution. Shouldn't we pledge allegiance to that?
Indeed, we've all pledged allegiance to the Constitution when we joined the military. Seems to me that we shouldn't have any problem with that. I don't.
Of course, what I'm proposing is going to open Pandora's Box. There are a significant number of people who aren't terribly impressed with our Constitution, including a helluva lot of Americans. And, in writing a new Pledge, we're going to spill the "Under God" can of worms. Still, I'm going to hit the "Share Link" button when I'm done writing this post, and I'm going to share it on social media. I'm looking forward to the responses. Until they arrive, I think I'll amuse myself completing a draft version.

Does the Pledge of Allegiance matter when Donald Trump pays $750 in taxes? What happen to America First? I guess that only applies to the American pigs that were tricked by Fox News and MAGA! Good piggy! Belice what i tell you because i self proclaim to be a man with family values, a man with religious believes and a man of integrity.. yours truly, Donald Trump. I don't feel used and I shouldn't. I understand a bit more about taxes than most and I wouldn't presume to lecture anyone about President Trump's tax returns. Indeed, it's highly unlikely that anything thus far reported is true. (The NY Times is a highly biased source.) Furthermore, their claim that President Trump practices "Tax Avoidance" puts me in mind of another campaign year during which a politician accused his opponent of "practicing celibacy with his own mother". Oh, the horror!
