You don't have to look as far as Cuba and Venezuela to see your future under socialism. Just look to California. This article appeared in 2012 and things have only gotten worse since then as we see the fruition of Governor Moonbeam's vision for California. Now we await the arrival of Governor Nuisance and know that it will get even worse. No, California is not a socialist state, not yet, but it is being governed as one in which free commerce is restricted and the state is herding its population into instant ghettos. Now go ahead and ask me, why do I stay? Simple. You can run, but you can't hide. Socialism is growing in "popularity" with the young all across the nation. I prefer to fight it here and now...

I was born in California. As the state progresses to the left I keep trying to figure out how I can relinquish my birth right. When California becomes an independent country will I be eligible for dual citizenship?

California will never become an independent nation. They can't afford to stop sucking at the teat in Washington. It'll never be re-annexed by Mexico. Mexico can't afford it and doesn't want to stop the cash flow that comes from California.

France is even further away than Venezuela and Cuba, and at least the French are fighting back. Californians, at least the majority, are rolling over and saying, "Please sir, may I have another"
