Never heard of Axios. Although it seems to lean a little left, (politico alumni) the reporting seems factual and insightful. Think I'll add to my bookmarks.
Curious as to why the 'five sources' waited three months to divulge this info. Also, I wonder if this incident was deemed to be classified?

It does seem to be a pretty big time gap from early November until fairly late in February. that doesn't seem to go in the category of current news. Up until now I've never heard of Axios either. In any event its past History and I don't get any impression it raised any real problems if it did happen as described.
According to another release the Chinese officials were already briefed that both a Doctor and also the Military Officer that carried the football had to be close to the President. There was one Chinese security person that it seems didn't get the word. General Kelly did intervene and the situation was quickly resolved without a problem. At no point was the football or the case it was in ever touched. What was stupid ? that one Chinese Security Person didn't get the word ? I also don't see any humor in this, if there was I have failed to figure out what was funny. I don't know who the Jack was You refer to so I would have no idea what His reaction would have been.

Nothing happens on this kind of visit without being fully vetted and authorized.
That the PRC chose to make an issue of the nuclear football is laughable.
Warmest Regards, Sandy :)
p.s. CPT Jack Durish is an exceptionally brilliant commentor on RallyPoint.

1LT Sandy Annala - That would seem likely, not everything that gets out is always accurate. I would tend to think the PRC top level officials and those around them would be very careful the same as We would be if they visited us. The word hilarious, which indicated humor had a far different impact that the word laughable, which doesn't indicate humor but instead doubt. Yes, If the Jack You mention is Captain Jack Durish I've always been impressed with His commentary which I tend to agree with. That clears that up. Thanks.

SMSgt Lawrence McCarter - The Chinese are provocative. They seem to get a kick out of tickling the tail of the dragon. Look at China's military confrontations with Japan - and air intercepts of surveillance aircraft. Warmest Regards, Sandy :)

1LT Sandy Annala - Yes, and also Viet Nam is building up its Navy and adding six submarines they bought from Russia and China and their intrusions into the South China sea on nations with a lot of their own coast there gives Viet Nam their concern. China has put on a bit of a display of flexing their muscles in that area. Viet Nam is but one example of a nation in that area that has been worrying about China and its sword rattling.
