John Robson: As the Russians go Tom Clancy, Canada still ignores defence

This is an opinion piece from the National Post Canadian newspaper concerning Canada's piss-poor defense spending.
While the scientists across the world try to scare the heck out of you into spending more money due to the fear of global warming that will make the near future look like a scene out of the movie The Day After Tomorrow, scarier things are Brewing between Russia the US and the UK. This is a commentary about the sad state of Canadian defense. Why worry about global warming?... we should be more concerned about what Russia could do to us militarily or sabotage our communication systems underwater. Tom Clancy was right! The Red Storm is rising but we care more about carbon taxes and global warming.
The scientists are calling about Chicken Little and fear of climate change within 15 to 40 years. What about Russia doing something dangerous in less than five years. That is more important to worry about. Climate science is in a schism but we know for sure that Russia, China and Iran are up to there Mischief again.

LTC Stephen Conway, sir, I have never bought into the hype. After the previous administration told me that the science was "done," I doubly said this is a farce and a fleecing of the wealthier countries in an effort to redistribute wealth to the poorer countries. Ask India and China about coal burning: the US might not be burning coal anymore, but the Indian subcontinent and the Chinese are burning the hell out of the stuff to try to catch up with us. The only thing that global warming does is enrich Al Gore.

Yes, they have Clean Coal technology right now. But not really advertising it much probably because natural gas is cheaper than coal. It is even cheaper than nuclear power. But the environmentalists go ape crap over anything to do with CO2
