Thanks Maj Marty Hogan for reminding us that February 27 is the anniversary of the birth of renowned American author John Ernst Steinbeck, Jr who won the 1962 Nobel Prize in Literature "for his realistic and imaginative writings, combining as they do sympathetic humor and keen social perception". He has been called "a giant of American letters", and many of his works are considered classics of Western literature.
Many of his wonderful novels have bene made into excellent movies including The Grapes of Wrath, Tortilla Flat, Cannery Row, East of Eden [James Dean], and the novellas Of Mice and Men and The Red Pony.
I enjoyed reading his novels and novellas. He had a marvelous ability to capture personally and develop it in his characters.
Rest in peace John Steinbeck!

It is also the 27th anniversary of the birth of my youngest son Caleb.

"BBC's amazing documentary about John Steinbeck and a few of most popular novels."

Thank you Maj Marty Hogan . Steinbeck is my favorite author. I have read each of his books. Several more than once. He had a way of portraying everyday working people...
