KDKA has described itself as the "Pioneer Broadcasting Station of the World", and traces its beginning — initially using the temporarily assigned "special amateur" call sign of 8ZZ — to its broadcast of the 1920 Harding-Cox presidential election results on the evening of November 2, 1920.

Whats awesome is that in their new station, they still have one of the bricks from the original building on display. KDKA 1020AM Radio has a lot of great history not only here in Pittsburgh, but across the country.

My sister's father-in-law knew the mad that made that broadcast, and he still had some of the vacuum tubes used in the transmitter. I had never heard that recording before though.
