I was fascinated to learn that autopilot was developed in 1914. Imagine what this genius could have accomplished had he not died at age 30.

Having used it for many years, have to admit, never thought about who invented it. Great history lesson.

I was amazed at this quote, "Among his inventions was instrumentation that permitted aircraft to be piloted when visibility was zero. His bank-and-turn indicator and artificial horizon have remained the basic instruments for every aircraft from the Boeing 747 to the Piper Cub." I was completely awed by that.
