When I taught classes in computing technology (from desktop applications to programming to system administration and application and systems architecture) I began every class with two statements. (1) I hate computers. It's true. I would love to be able to do "computing" without computers. (2) I learned a lesson in the Army. If you want to know the fastest, easiest, most efficient and economical way of doing anything, find a lazy man and follow him. I am the laziest person you will ever meet. Follow me. There is in computing a thing called elegance. It means doing the most with the least. For example, programs using less code (instructions) compute faster than those with more. Thus, I would correct this title to read "Lazy approach is the best for all jobs"

Indeed! Great lesson. Working "smart" is elegant - also challenging and fulfilling.

True. Slow and steady often works better.

I have often told folks that in the Army everyone does it as well as it can be done (accuracy and reliability) because lives depend on it.
