This popped up on my screen this morning when I turned on my computer. I imagine it did for many of us. However, I followed the link to learn about this amazing model. Even more amazing is the fact that models were used by such notable military commanders as Napoleon to truly understand a battle space. As a competitive navigator, I have long been fascinated by maps but can easily see how models would be better than a two-dimensional rendering. Indeed, when asked to explain some portion of the earth to my children and grandchildren, I always reached for my globe which is basically a model.
