I always tried to do that and I encouraged my subordinates to do that as well

There is a difference between being a leader and being a manager. A leader doesn't need to demand respect a manager does.

As a “reactor”, I have often been misunderstood in assuming leadership. I have gotten better at listening and taking a step back to ask questions. I like the approach. Good stuff!
