I never gave a thought to who designed it before.

Nor had I. But it is interesting to know who did design it and why.

Maj Robert Thornton - It really is. Just never gave it a thought.
I think there must be a joint service panel designing ribbons and medals today. LOL

Thanks for the mention, truthfully I didn't know there was a Flag, I think that is awesome. If I had a car I would join the American Legion and the VFW. Though when I was in Tampa I was told that I couldn't because I was never in country. Some of the guys here in the complex say that I can. I guess we will see.

Lt Col Charlie Brown, boots on the ground, I was never in Nam. I served during that time not over there, and I was told by the VFW rep who was in the hospital there to use the American Legion. Of course I may be mistaken, I just never question what I believe I heard.

The VFW is for people who served in a foreign country during wartime. I am an American Legion member. My spouse belongs to the VFW

Lt Col Charlie Brown, now I did serve in Okinawa at the tail end of Vietnam, would that count?
