Think I read it somewhere - significance of coins. Maybe here on RP, not sure, but it has been within the last year or two. Penny means simply that you visited. Nickle indicates that you and deceased trained at boot camp together. Dime means you served with them in some capacity. Quarter means you were with them when he/she was killed. Thanks for sharing.

Yes I have and do. It's been a tradition around Fort McPherson since the Vietnam War. Don't know if it goes back farther or who started it.
