Promoting someone with that personality type to MCPON is an indicator of other issues with the Navy institution. I am sure that his issues were well known prior to making MCPON, but were clearly ignored. The bigger issue is why the powers that be ignored his past behavior? This situation could also be another example of the Peter Principle.
I worked with a similar personality type in my old job. Very smart guy but he was unable that manage or communicate with people. Any question you asked him was taking as questioning his authority. Despite his lack of people skills, the administration continued to promote him up the ranks. They totally ignored his lack of leadership skills. He holds the #3 position currently and I wouldn’t be surprised if he eventually makes #1. Which he will fail at completely and then everyone will act suprised.

A Master Chief with an ego and a temper? Why, I never!
Jokes aside, it sounds like he's a real tyrant and a dirtbag. Time to retire him.

Seems this individual has no understanding of the concept of teamwork and motivating people to accomplish task because they want to, not just because they have to. Respect is a two way street, You have to give respect in order to receive it. There may be respect for the rank and that is required but respect for an individual is entirely another matter. This is not a position for royalty with a staff of servants, lead by example and pitch in a work on behalf of those other people who are also members of the US Navy, not a staff of servants for any individual own need because He is just so important in His own mind they don't count. The bottom line is never ask or expect anyone to do something You wouldn't do Yourself ! Lead by example !

SMSgt Thor Merich
Absolutely Senior. I learned a lesson a very long time ago from a CMSgt when I saw him taking out the trash. I quickly grabbed it from him and asked him why he was taking out the trash. He simply said, “because it was full.”
