It is sad compare all the the disappointments and failures of President Lincoln before he became President until he made President. It's a good lesson to show perseverance and tenacity and not giving up on attaining his goals. Just some smart-ass I know is going to say 'well he did get shot in the back of the head in Ford's Theater' LOL. Not funny! He still changed history forever!

Thanks TSgt Joe C. for reminding us that on May 4, 1865 Abraham Lincoln is laid to rest in his hometown of Springfield, Illinois.

President Lincoln came to Washington DC on a train and he left the same way. His death at 56 years of age was so tragic. A Southerner killed the president, being unaware that the victim as a son of the South was prepared to make the Southern states return to the Union as unpretentious as possible. POTUS Lincoln had the clout to get his program through the Congress, something his successor could not do.
