I have installed 18 in a VMware environment and was quite supprised how well it worked in a virtual environment compared to 17 and older. The sound worked without having to attach the device from the tool bar. Mint is my goto for linux. I hate Ubuntu's new desktop environment and the other Distro's are ok, but just can not compare to Mint. I am not Including specialized flavors in that statement.

SSG John Erny Agree with you totally about Ubuntu. I switched to Mint when they released Unity. If I wanted a Mac, I would go spend too much money. ;)

I've just started evaluating the latest mint. Looks good so far. Linux has come a long way.

How long until you upgrade, SSgt Mark Lines ? Do you think it'll be the same as when I tried deepin 2015 immediately after its release ?

SSgt Mark Lines - Nice wallpaper. I thought you were a Conky fan ? And how long did it take to wipe that 1TB ?

SGT (Join to see) Thanks, I am a Conky fan, but I just have not got around to it yet. The laptop, pictures shown, took about an hour, nVidia drivers and fstab edits included, to setup. My HTPC took about an hour for the install, 2 hours to get the nVidia drivers to install and work properly, 10 minutes to modify the fstab, and I am still scanning media into Kodi after 4 hours. (3 - 3tb drives and 1 2tb drive of media)

SGT (Join to see) - A combination of a crash in the nVidia driver after an update. It seemed to have corrupted the sata controller part of the kernel. The problem was not noticeable until a reboot. The sata controller issue would not allow me to access anything beyond grub. So a full reinstall was the easiest option.
