Most panhandlers do not want to work, it is much easier to sit at an intersection with a piece of cardboard and ask for money. Actually in some area's they can make more money than you would think.

I think the article you refer to is based on an Atlanta new paper article. The lady was dropped off with kids by her husband driving a benz they walk around the block to their site and put in an 8 to 10 hour day. The lady actually gave that guy an interview. We have site just across from Mcdonalds where I live and someone is there almost every day and it is rarely the same person two days in a row. I understand there are some drunks etc but allot of panhandlers are out there because it is easy money if you have the right intersection and the right story.

LTC (Join to see) - I believe in helping people who want help and are willing to work. One of my good friends who just retired has plans on a start-up to hire homeless veterans and build tiny houses. He'll have some strict requirements like you mention - no alcohol, able to obtain driver's license, etc. First they'll teach them the skills and build tiny houses for the homeless veterans in the crew, then they'll build them for those in the local area. I think he's got a great idea and it'll take off.

Well I'm happy to see that it was an actually a conservative person I came up with the idea in New Mexico. I like with a person on the show discusses that he feels a sense of accomplishment cleaning up the city. These part-time workers are managed so they don't they don't Take the Money and Run but they actually do something.

Sounds great but from what Iv'e seen many panhandlers need treatment in a substance abuse facility or a mental hospital before they could function as an employee.
