Lt Col John (Jack) Christensen - Great read about the early Rock Star, Little Richard! I will say that the Author of this article did not get it right though... The true beginnings of Rock and Roll began with Bill Haley and the Comets in 1952. Here is a snippet from Wikipedia"

"Bill Haley & His Comets were an American rock and roll band, founded in 1952 and continued until Haley's death in 1981. The band was also known as Bill Haley and the Comets and Bill Haley's Comets (and variations thereof). From late 1954 to late 1956, the group placed nine singles in the Top 20, one of those a number one and three more in the Top Ten. The single "Rock Around the Clock" became the biggest selling rock and roll single in the history of the genre."

However, Bill Haley did not get the same credit as did Little Richard, but there were so many R&R artists back in the day... (my era - LOL!) All that said, Little Richard, aka; "Richard Wayne Penniman" (December 5, 1932 – May 9, 2020), seemed to be the man with the radical twist to R&R (Radical as taken in a good way) Little Richard was sort of a phenomenon in the R&R beginning...but Elvis Presley was the King of R&R... (at least one of them anyway... LOL!) THank you for sharing a great story, Jack.

Bob Dylan's first public performance, at a high school event, was him trying to sing a couple of Little Richard songs. The crowd of teens in Hibbing, Minnesota, back in the 1950s, thought he was crazy.

I've been to Hibbing but didn't know it was where Bob Dylan did his first performance.

That's his hometown, he's from there. The performance was a garage band type thing, a pretty bad garage band from the article I saw it in.
