Sigh...can we uninvent cell phones, maybe? Go back to slide rules? Maybe even add an abacus or two? Get in a wayback machine or Dr. Who's tardis? I can well imagine why such problems have arisen, certainly...I've noted many, many times, kids cannot, and should not, ne taught using computer systems, or exposed to the computing environment of a cell phone. I'm not saying that's the whole problem, however, I have little doubt it's a significant contributing factor. When one adds the boob tube into the mix, the lack of literary exposure, no discipline of study for the most part, I mean, what is one to expect as result, societally, you know?

Absolutely! And as a soldier, how can these men and women be alert, head on a swivel when it's buried in a cell phone? I have been around so many citizen soldiers (Army National Guard), also Marines and Navy, that have not been observant to their surroundings and nearly gotten in some deep poop because of it! The cause? The phone! Their Savior? An old Army Dog Face who was taught by the best who when he entered the room, scanned its layout first, checked for all the exits, restrooms, guests, suspicious persons, chose a seating arrangement that gave him optimum view of all the aforementioned yet didn't look out of place, just a regular customer blending in, a heavily armed to the teeth customer though. BTW Captain Goodman, I spend a good amount of time on my computer, most engaged in research and study though. I don't watch any TV, not even hooked up, I continue to be exposed to literature every day and to date have attained 3 Ph.D's, not because I needed or wanted them, rather I wanted to fulfill the Army's motto of being everything I could be! Lol!

I find that really interestng...I only ask out of curiosity, what fields? I'd be genuinely interested to know, honest...also, what research interests, as well, if you could elaborate...God knows, just getting one clinical allied-health doctorate took me six years of aggravation, my total perm disability stuff constantly bollixed up my efforts at a Ph.D., though I was once close to a Doctor of Arts (D.A.) in math...I'd really be most eager, as I'd said to hear more, whenever convenient, no rush, honest...and I don't watch all that much TV, a few sci-fi things, a few movies, I'm trying to be allowed to volunteer to help with clinical research at the VA hospital by us, as well as a nearby major university, in addition to trying to volunteer to do STEM tutoring for CAP, Sea Cadets, and JROTCs, in addition to trying to rejoin CAP, and also join USCG Auxiliary...it'd take awhile for me to explain why, for all of that, though, so, whenever you'd have time, if you'd wanna gab, by all means lemme know, anytime, OK?

All I can say is that I’m glad I did my trail time before 9/11. Sounds like it went to shit after that. But whatever they do it won’t replace the receiving NCO’s responsibility for enforcing discipline in their unit.

I can certainly quite well envision why it happens, that, I'm afraid, doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out, and without meaning to sound vain about it, honest, I really am one, so I can quite well discern the root cause of the problem, I assure all of you...
