I saw them play in Evansville, Indiana in May 1975 while I was an enlisted Combat Engineer assigned at Fort Campbell, Kentucky.
They closed out the show with an extended version of Free Bird.

I saw the original guys at a college auditorium in their beginnings. They were touring in a modified bus and put on a great concert. Tragic loss of a great Southern band.
