LTC (Join to see) - Thank you. I missed that. Interesting that the weapon shown is actually a field modified version or one that did not go through a regular depot maintenance since if you take a look time stamp 4:55 the 1 in M1 is not over stamped on the front or rear of the receiver. It also has the Type 1 rear sights and the Type 1 barrel band, which usually got replaced in a depot or maintenance overhaul.

I saw the selector. Was looking for book I have that goes into details. Later features on M2 were round bolt, adjustable sight, t4 band and rotary safety.

CW5 Jack Cardwell - You only have one book on it?
I have in my library the following:
TB 23-7-1 Ordnance Field Service Technical Bulletin No. 23-7-1 Carbine, Cal. .30, M1
TM 9-1276 Cal. .30 Carbines M1, M1A1, M2, and M3
U.S. M1 Carbines, Wartime Production by Craig Riesch (North Cape Publications)
Collecting The M1 Carbine II; A collector's Field Guide to U.S. Military Arms, Volume Three by Jesse C. Harrison (The Arms Chest)

I probably have others but those are the ones always close at hand.

SSG Robert Webster - The M1 Carbine is the first rifle I ever fired. Same day, I got to fire the M14. My dad's unit was testing the M14 for the Army and I got to go to the range that day so I got to fire each of them.

My Dad had this as his assigned weapon for shore/boarding parties while he was a squid...he was not impressed. None of the varied WW2 vets I've known thought much of it either
