A serious gut check on the part of the NCO that made the call to get in position to make that shot! Really neat share!

I find the whole story a little hard to swallow. St Vith was in the path of the 5th Panzer Army in the center of the attack, the 6th SS Panzer Army was further north. The 501st (S) Panzer Bn was attached to Kampfgruppe Peiper. Most likely it was a Panzer IV or Panther. Many were mistaken for Tigers.
