The law is named after Sergei Magnitsky, a Russian lawyer who died in prison in 2009 after exposing government fraud. He was working with American businessman Bill Browder, who has been watching the Khashoggi disappearance unfold.

So far all we hear is craziness. We do have the Saudis over a barrel on this one, let's see how it plays out.

Never going to happen. In the world of international politics, we sometimes have to lie in bed with bad guys. The Saudi’s have been doing crazy stuff for years. We tolerate it because they are our best defense against Iran. While it sucks, that’s just the way it is.
It goes back for decades. At one time Ho Chi Minh, Manuel Noriega, Sadam Hussein were are supported by the U.S.
It’s just the way business is done. The Saudi’s fall into that category.
While we need to punish them, it will be of no real consequence. Behind the scenes we will still be working with them as we always have.
