Donald Trump Won’t Self-Fund General-Election Campaign
Donald Trump won’t self-fund his general-election campaign, and will instead create a “world-class finance organization,” the presumptive Republican nominee said in an interviewon Wednesday.

Alan K. - This is the highlight:
"Facing a prospective tab of more than $1 billion to finance a general-election run for the White House, Donald Trump reversed course Wednesday and said he would actively raise money to ensure his campaign has the resources to compete with Hillary Clinton’s fundraising juggernaut."
Bottom line is that we can't be sure if he doesn't need other people's money, but he sure does want it.
Though he can easily "reverse course" again and say he won't be fundraising if he fails to raise significant money, and he can then pretend like he never said what he said.

That sounds like a convenient story, but he's not walking the walk. He's pressing really hard for fundraising, and when he doesn't get donors, he spins it. http://www.wsj.com/articles/donald-trump-wont-self-fund-general-election-campaign [login to see]
