Marine Corps Wants Hundreds More Small Boats for Coastal Operations

I would question the need for this.
Small craft is generally the province of the Navy, and I don't see how giving the Marine Corps it's own fleet of these is anything but duplicative.
Also, "Hundreds" more? What the devil are we doing in littoral or riverine waterways that warrants that kind of number?
Seems to me that the DoD has gotten a big budget boost, and the services are licking their chops to get a piece of the pie, whether it makes sense or not.
