UPDATE: So, apparently, the DI in question was approached by a general officer of the U.S.A.F. who made the "request" that the inspecting Marines "kick stress" onto the Army Cadets. Other information indicates that a senior Drill Instructor (perhaps not directly involved) commented that while correct in obeying orders, this behavior would not be typical of this evolution. The implication is that the general officer "invited" himself into a process he did not fully understand-and both the Marines and the Cadets performed admirably.

It would have been better still if the Cadet had addressed him by his rank instead of "Sir" :)

Good point-though I'm not sure if the whole "officer on parade" thing applies here or not. Bottom line-I'd pay a dollar or two to get the whole story, as I'd prefer to think this is an example of an NCO imparting some "brass" to a candidate officer, rather than a future "tool" and someone in dire need of a break clashing over nuances in front of the civil population.
