Investigations never end well for those being investigated. Even if the DIs did everything "by the book" dealing with this particular recruit, every single recruit in the platoon gets interviewed. Even the slightest violation of the SOP will be bought out. If a recruit was cursed at or called anything other than his last name, rank or recruit its a violation. If a recruit was forced to perform Incentive training 30 minutes before or after chow, its a violation. Any time a recruit was touched unless it was to adjust his position or save him or another recruit from danger its a violation. The Recruit Training SOP is the bible of Drill Instructors, especially the part that deals with the handling and the rights of recruits.
I can honestly say that most Drill Instructors violate it every day to some degree. The chances are that the Marines who were DIs in that Platoon will all have their Careers ended, wheher or not they handled that particular recruit properly.
One damning piece of testimony is witnesses saying a DI "slapped" him to revive him.

Very unfortunate that the young man died. But it's not the first time a recruit could not handle the pressure of MCRD. As you said Master Guns they need to fix it and move on.

MGySgt James Forward The citizens of the United States appreciate having had the service of the USMC for these many years. By the way; are 'they' going to relieve the Commander-in-Chief and the deceased recruit's recruiter? Is there any one else they might cast blame upon? Semper Fi MGySgt James Forward
