That is an incredible change 70 years later. It seem strange that Bradley would go on the tours, to the White House and point himself out in the picture to the President if he knew he was not in it. I guess it is possible he was confused about it but that seems a stretch. There were two flags raised on Suribachi but there were many photos taken of both and film as well. That is considered one of the most iconic pictures of all time. I think it is still one of the most reproduced images of all time.

Funny story, a few years ago I knew a woman whose son was graduating from Army boot came. Her family wanted to get some t-shirts done for the graduation and had selected the picture of the flag raising on Mt Suribachi as the image. She showed me the image they were going to use. I almost didn't tell her that the image was of Marines. I thought having Army parent show up with a Marine Corps image would have been priceless but there would have been hell to pay on the back end when she came back so I told her.

Great story Jeff. Maybe Bradley was confused whether he should say something or not, or maybe he didn't think it would be found out. At any rate it's 100% now.

It's obv good, I'd mentioned in another mention of the correction that I'm by no means surprised he might well have not wanted any part of the ensuing worldwide and national tumult over the whole photo thing, asmi reflect on his stoic silence except during that one dinner with his family, as the story about him recounted, hope that was of interest, be eager for any thoughts, many thanks.
