Many vets have perceived perceptions of the VA and are disappointed when it doesn't met the standards they've perceived. I've been going since soon after discharge and when on TDRL
(Temp dis Ret list) and have had nothing but fantastic results.. I understand we have to assert ourself.. I also realize there is a time to be humble.. knowing when to do a or h is a big thing to know.. with those that like to show they think they are "in charge". It may be time to be assertive or being humble. Or some of both.. I try a combination .. one clerk thought I was being to
Assertive... maybe ! She answered So? as if letting me know I was upsetting her reading the
The latest issue of ' Gossip weekly'..
so I kind of apologized with a little sarcasm thrown in.. so she got up and sashayed over to the
Computer screen and brought my app't up.. . What station to report to and how to get there..
Well she wasn't getting employe of the day week or month on the critique I was filling out(I'd take it home and bring it up on my screen and fill it out and e-mail it in.. it keeps those that shouldn't be
Accessing from accessing.. I got one back from the advocate saying it'd be taken care of.. this way the target doesn't get a heads up before they're called in to explain themself.. other than that my visits have been without negative incident.

You have have a strong advocate or be a strong advocate for yourself whether in the VA system or any other health system.

PO2 Peter Klein - I am fortunate to have access to Great advocates within
our Dept. In the V.F.W. and good timing..
VA had messed with my rating and I was able with Dept. advocates to get reinstated plus upgrade to a higher percentage.. along with retroactive payments..

PO2 Peter Klein - That is true however, most people...especially in the services..learn to respect an individual and give them the benefit of the doubt that they know and are doing their job. I am fortunate enough to be able to gently and subtly make people take better care of their jobs... oddly enough often with a compliment..wether meant or not. These folks also have to deal with us.. that can be a real pain in the ass.
(Subtle..not so much..leading statement )

We had one woman working drawing blood in the Outpatient clinic. I've never seen such an attitude and disrespect to patients. It even got racial once. She finally got fired, then they had another one with a bad attitude toward the vets. Both of these were civ, never a vet..
She's gone.. Her replacement is a former Navy Corpsman ...
