You're Expecting a Warm Reception from "Intellectuals" The College Educated "Intellectuals of the Day". "Shouldn't they since he has a Democrat Appointee". Perspective is Everything. Post the Stupidity of the McCarthy Red Scare, When Robert Kennedy is transitioning from being and Errand Boy for McCarthy to a Civil Rights, Social Justice Icon. Justice Hugo Black past member of the KKK is transitioning to an Advocate for Civil Rights, Robert Byrd Redneck KKK Member from West Virginia is Transitioning to someone Praised by the NAACP Upon his Death. Once Again, Perspective is Everything.

I like Robert McNamara but he was just Road Kill in the Big Picture of History.

Robert McNamara served as Secretary of Defense under both Presidents Kennedy and Johnson. Publically, he was viewed as a "hawk." However, he recommended that LBJ withdraw US forces from Vietnam for more than a year before he resigned in 1967. Afterward, McNamara remained silent about US involvement in Vietnam until 1996 when he published "In Retrospect: The Tragedy and Lessons of Vietnam." In this book, he documents all of his attempts to withdraw from 1966 until his resignation. He also honestly discusses all of the decisions and errors of US foreign policy in Vietnam. This is one of the best primary sources about the war in Vietnam, written with genuine honesty, by a key policymaker of the time.
