In '75 we were in the Med on a "Flaming Lance" and The AF had a 4 ship arch-light on an Island Used for a Bombing range...
We were one of the Assault Carriers with the Marines... we all got worried when all the Sea creatures Passed the Boat... gong in the Other Direction... All the sea creatures arch-light Sharks whales Fish Squids and Octopi... and Dolphins were all but walking on the waters...
The looks from the Brass in the command tower was " WTF do they Know we don't... "

it was a Big Rock kinda west of Sardinia that stuck out of the water Like an IceBerg...
All I knew was I was all but Sea sick, and The Buffs made a Lot of Noise when the ordinance went off , but we could not see or hear the bastards... we found out later all of the islands were Volcanoes of some type...
I was never so Glad to get back to Vicenza...

an impressive bird. watch them take off many times with thick black smoke rolling out of the engines. I believe they were injecting demin water into the engines. sure made a racket
