My wife has been assigned as my caregiver. I can never thank her enough for all she deals with but clearly see the need for more help for the military spouses. Our physical and mental conditions are echoed onto our spouses who are stuck dealing with these issues. They aren't properly trained, the don't get the counseling they need, and many of them end up with the same metal issues we suffer from. Fortunately my wife has got in contact with some non-profit organizations that host caregiver retreats. The retreats are so valuable to the health of our spouses that the Army and the VA need to recognize this and somehow start offering more programs for the spouses. The Army preaches family first, but really does the Army ever really mean Family first? Family first after training, family first after this deployment, family first after staff duty, you get the picture. It really is never family first. I wish someone would look at how many soldiers were not allowed to redeploy during the height of the wars even though their spouses were having children. It's just sad and no one ever takes into consideration the military spouse. These women deserve more.

Marriage and single persons retreat would an incredible venue to connect with others and learn good therapy practices to include how to run the machine.

And a special woman to deal with the after effects from a combat deployment. They do need a really good support network.
