Highly unusual WW2 film, I have no idea of the truth of it, or if it was made from a novel, honest, just well worth watching, promise.

Trust me, well worth it, incredibly good ending...vory odd film, I'd always wondered if it were true, or from a novel based in a true story...

Yeah, I always thought the performances were quite good, turns out, was based on semi autobiographical novels nu a WW2 hero, rather controversial in his day. Apparently, there Wikipedia pages in the film, as well as him...
